Martin, Benioff and Weiss, and basically anyone who cares about "Game of Thrones" and has read the books (read: us) have all been lamenting for a while now about the fact it will be an impossible task to bring the third book in the series, "A Storm of Swords," to the small screen with just a 10 episode order. Well, HBO might have found a really good solution for that. Winter Is Coming has heard from multiple sources that HBO might renew the series for two seasons shot back-to-back for "A Storm of Swords." The plan has already been to cover "ASoS" in more than one season, but this seems like a lot smarter of an option than having two separate shoots. The cast would be filming for nine months, but at least this will prevent the young children from aging too much when not that much time passes in the books. Unfortunately, this likely doesn't mean the seasons will be aired back-to-back, much to our chagrin. Still, considering the fact "ASoS" was released as two separate books in many parts of the world, it is a relief to hear that HBO is considering the idea of spreading the story out over two full seasons. Alex Lacamoire, the music supervisor on the new " Bring It On: The Musical" (running Oct. 30 to Dec. 10 at the Ahmanson Theatre), describes his job as the "traffic control center of the music in the show." Lacamoire wears multiple hats on the show, loosely based on the 2000 cheerleading film, also serving as co-arranger and co-orchestrator. The show features a book by Jeff Whitty ("Avenue Q"), music by Lin-Manuel Miranda ("In the Heights") and Tom Kitt ("Next to Normal"), and lyrics by Miranda and Amanda Green ("High Fidelity"). Lacamoire has arranged music for such Broadway hits as "Wicked," "Legally Blonde," and "In the Heights," for which he won a 2008 Tony Award for best orchestrations.Music has always been a part of his life. "I've been told stories that even when I was 2 years old, I would sit in front of the stereo speaker and just stare at the speaker and be transfixed by music," he recalls. "So this is definitely something that I feel like I was born to do." Ironically, "What I Was Born to Do" is the title of "Bring It" 's first song. Lacamoire has been playing piano since age 4 and has always loved all styles of music. That love for music intertwined with a love for the theater in high school when he was called on to join the band for a production of "Bye Bye Birdie." He says, "I loved the music of theater, I loved the people in it, I loved the camaraderie of the people involved, I loved the outgoingness of the people who performed it, so theater is always something I've gravitated towards, and I just found out by the time I was in high school and college that it was something that I had a knack for."At Berklee College of Music, he studied different styles of music, which paved the way for a versatile career. "All the things I've done are very different, but I feel very lucky that these are all styles that I feel like I either know about or have studied or just love," he explains. "I love all kinds of music. I feel lucky that I've learned just enough about all these styles of music that I'm able to create music that references these styles when needed."Lacamoire has been involved with "Bring It On" since the beginning of its development process. He'd worked with director and choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler on "In the Heights" and "9 to 5." During the latter show, they forged a working relationship, so when Blankenbuehler was hired to direct and choreograph "Bring It On," he brought on Lacamoire. "So basically I got on the project because I had worked with Andy and we had worked so well together," says Lacamoire. "Basically anything that Andy does from here on out, he says he will hire me for anything he does, which is great."As music supervisor, Lacamoire has also been involved in the casting process for both "In the Heights" and "Bring It On." Although his role is to assess the vocal abilities of those auditioning, he also takes the bigger picture into consideration. He notes, "If there's someone that really inhabits the role from an acting perspective and has the look and the feel that we're looking foreven if they aren't the best voice we've ever heardI still know that the other things that they have on the table are worth going for, and their voice can either be worked on by me or I can find ways to make the song fit better in their voice." Dancing Challenges The demanding choreography in "Bring It On" posed unique casting challenges. "You have to be at a high level of performance just to be able to execute the moves that [Blankenbuehler] crafts," Lacamoire says. Because of this degree of difficulty, the productions needed professional cheerleaders, but most didn't have musical theater experience. For many of the cheerleaders, their audition was the first time they'd sung in public. This created a challenge for Lacamoire because he had to "determine whether or not someone had the ability to sing and belt, to make sure they had pitch, to make sure they had rhythm. Because sometimes people have that, but you wouldn't know it." To complicate matters, because they were cheerleaders, they often didn't have a book of songs. "So Andy came up with a brilliant idea, which is when we have auditions we have a stack of top songs that these cheerleaders probably know and that they can sing for us," says Lacamoire. The cheerleaders were given songs such as "This Love" by Maroon 5, "Ordinary People" by John Legend, or "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. Then Lacamoire would work with them for five minutes on just the chorus, encouraging and nurturing their natural singing abilities, to find skilled cheerleaders who also had the necessary vocal abilities.Lacamoire really liked the development process, because he felt that he was given a lot of input on the vocal arrangements, which he worked on with Kitt. "Because Andy is very big on musical transitions and using music and dance to get from point A to B in the story," he says, "I ended up creating a lot of transitional cues that happened in the show." For the end of Act 1, Lacamoire created the rhythmic melody for Kitt to use in creating the notes for the song. He was also able to "string together" the different sections that Miranda had written for the song "Saturday Night Jackson" in a way that made the story make sense for Blankenbuehler. Because of the dance-intensive nature of the show, Lacamoire had to simplify the harmonies to make them as easy as possible. "So normally people might write for four-part harmony," he continues, "[but] there are a lot of times in the show where we have two-part harmony just because we have to factor in that we're losing half the voices because they are doing stunts onstage." Knowing that he "had input on the way a song feels and what the groove is and what it does and whether it's going to make someone tap their foot or whether it's going to make someone excited or whether it's going to move the story further" is rewarding to Lacamoire. He acknowledges that his role is behind the scenes but is also aware that even though people may not notice what he has contributed to a song, "if it wasn't there, they would notice it." Welcome to MTV's Killer Halloween! All week long, we're looking at ten of the greatest horror movie villains of all time, and with your help, we'll determine once and for all just how powerful these murdering psychopaths and evil masterminds really are. Our contestants: Freddy Krueger ("A Nightmare on Elm Street"), Jason Voorhees ("Friday the Thirteenth"), Michael Myers ("Halloween"), Ghostface ("Scream"), Leatherface ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"), Chucky ("Child's Play"), Norman Bates ("Psycho"), Pinhead ("Hellraiser"), Hannibal Lecter ("Silence of the Lambs") and Jigsaw ("Saw"). Style, weapons, personality and gross factor aside, a horror movie killer's greatest asset is the legacy he leaves behind, whether we're talking about the continued success of these murderers' respective franchises or the long history of bloodshed they've carved out in the fictional worlds they exist in. Freddy Krueger As long as teenagers are dreaming, Freddy will be there to haunt them. After nine official films, it's certain that Freddy is here stay, and since he exists primarily in dreams, there is truly no killing this killer. Jason Voorhees Arguably, the killer that has had to suffer through the most deaths and resurrections and, more importantly, the most really bad sequels, Jason's run may have been rough, but all it takes is a lightning strike or a down wire to send him back on the hunt. Michael Myers Depending on who you ask, Michael Myers either benefitted or was hurt by two remakes by Rob Zombie, but the reboot did prove that people are still interested in the man in the William Shatner mask. Ghostface The killer who was always in on the joke and always knew the rules of the game has skewed further and further into meta-madness with each subsequent sequel, but there will always be something intriguing about the voice on the other end of the phone. Leatherface For as much as he's seen in popular culture these days, Leatherface is only associated with one truly memorable movie, and because of the original's status as a horror classic, Leatherface's legacy lives on. Chucky Years after the original run of films and then the two most recent films, "The Bride of Chucky" and "The Seed of Chucky," it's pretty much safe to say that the character is more memorable than the films, but few can forget the lovable look of evil on the creepy doll's face. Norman Bates Thankfully, few people remember the sequels. (To be fair, some people consider "Psycho III" an underappreciated classic.) But the unforgettable original film will remain one of the essential horror films for generations to come. It can be argued that there would be no slasher genre without Norman Bates, and to that end, you gotta respect the original. Pinhead Unfortunately, Pinhead's legacy has been more or less relegated to direct-to-video sequels, and similar to Chucky, the character has transcended the public knowledge of the films he starred in. Hannibal Lecter The good doctor has the power of the Academy Awards on his side. With "Silence of the Lambs" sweeping the major categories in 1992, Lecter's status as one of cinema's most memorable characters was cemented. Jigsaw Is he finally dead? There have been so many sequels it's honestly hard to say. Since 2011 was the first Halloween in 8 years where a new "Saw" film hasn't debuted, Jigsaw may be gone for good. What he lacks in personality he more than makes up for in vomit-inducing kills, as Leatherface is the champion in the Gross Factor category! He's followed extremely closely by the inventive psychopath Jigsaw, with flesh-hungry Hannibal and dream-haunting Freddy Krueger hanging in the three and four spots. Once again, no respect for Norman Bates, who scored lowest in this category -- perhaps he'll bounce back once Legacy is measured, as there's no doubt that his influence on horror movies is immeasurable. Tom Cruise Talks Jack Reacher Casting

Exclusive: 'I'm very sensitive to it.'There are casting calls so controversial that they look likely to reduce the internet to a smoking wasteland of charred avatars and ashen memes. Michael Keaton as Batman, Daniel Craig as Bond, The Last Airbender... that kind of thing. It's fair to say that the choice of Tom Cruise to play Lee Child's towering do-gooder Jack Reacher in One Shot has smoke pouring out of the web again. With the movie currently filming in Pittsburgh, Empire tracked the man down to ask about the farrago. "Firstly, I'm very sensitive to it," Cruise explained, revealing that Child came to watch his readings. "This is Lee's book and Lee's character. Him giving me his blessing is what made me do it. If he hadn't then I wouldn't have done it." And what of the discrepancy in height - Cruise giving away more than a few inches to the clock-brained legend? "Lee told me that the reason he wrote him that size (6' 5") is because that was just one element to his character, and that opened the door to me playing him."As Cruise himself is quick to point out, he's no stranger to controversial casting. His pick to playLestat in Neil Jordan's Interview With The Vampire may have been pre-trolling, but it still caused a stink with fans of Anne Rice's novel - and, briefly, with the writer herself. No-one should doubt the actor's commitment to the role, though. "Reacher is such a great character," he enthused. "He doesn't have a cell phone, he doesn't have email. He's off the grid. He pays for things in cash. People look at things through the prism of the colours of their life, but Jack Reacher does things the way we want to sometimes. Comedy Central has restored "Workaholics" for just about any third season, airing in 2012. Within the 10:30 p.m. Tuesday timeslot this season, "Workaholics" remains no. 1 show in television among males 18-34, while calculating 2.millions of audiences overall. Its viewership has enhanced in key demos by almost 40%. Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck of Teleshopping Comedy created "Workaholics" with Dominic Russo and Connor Pritchard of fifth Year. Anderson, Devine and Holm star, while Newacheck directs for showrunner Kevin Etten. All of the aforementioned professional produce along with Avalon Television's Richard Allen-Turner, David Martin, Jon Thoday and Isaac Horne and Gigapix Studios' David Pritchard. Audiences have stayed away from movie theaters in recent weeks, but that could all change with the release of 'Paranormal Activity 3.' Does the horror sequel have enough to goose the sagging box office and hold off 'The Three Musketeers'? Absolutely! Your weekend movie preview is here. NATIONWIDE RELEASES 'Paranormal Activity 3' What's the story: The latest chapter in the smash-hit horror franchise is a prequel that heads back to 1988 to discover what happened to Katie and Kristi when they were children. Box-office projection: Thanks to a lack of competition -- and a lack of horror movies in general -- plus pent-up audience anticipation to see something this month that feels like an event, expect the box-office figures for 'Paranormal Activity 3' to go through the roof. Paramount has done a great job marketing the film -- from 'Catfish' directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost -- and with goodwill toward the franchise still running at solid levels heading into the third outing, grosses upward of $40 million feel almost reasonable. If you're feeling frisky, you can bet the over. Moviefone is feeling frisky. $46.7 million [Showtimes & Tickets] 'The Three Musketeers' What's the story: All for one, one for 3D surcharges! From director Paul W.S. Anderson ('Resident Evil,' 'Death Race,' 'Event Horizon') comes a re-imagining of the Alexandre Dumas literary classic, complete with extra dimensions, explosions, and Orlando Bloom and Christophe Waltz chewing scenery opposte the musketeers (Ray Stevenson, Matthew Macfayden and Luke Evans) and D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman). Anderson's wife, Milla Jovovich, co-stars. Box-office projection: Here's one for the foreign markets. While 'The Three Musketeers' might not have much life at the domestic box office, it could take off overseas thanks to its cast and the lure of 3D, which still a draw outside the United States. That's not to say 'The Three Musketeers' will be a total wash-out here: Anderson is usually good for an opening in double-digits, and with Lerman, Jovovich, Evans and Bloom, there are enough stars to get non-horror fans -- the ones not busy with 'Paranormal Activity' -- to plunk down hard earned cash for a ticket. $11.1 million [Showtimes & Tickets] 'Johnny English Reborn' What's the story: Rowan Atkinson stars as Johnny English, not-sauve super spy trying to stop the assassination of the Chinese premiere. Box-office projection: The good news: 'Johnny English Reborn' has already earned $90 million overseas. This thing is a hit! The bad news: It won't earn very much here in the US, despite the fact that 'Johnny English' grabbed $9 million during its opening weekend in 2003. 2003! Have Atkinson fans been champing at the bit for the last eight years to see this sequel? Doubtful. $4.2 million [Showtimes & Tickets] 'The Mighty Macs' What's the story: Carla Gugino stars as Kathy Rush, a women's basketball coach in the 1970s who helped a struggling Catholic school win a national championship. Box-office projection: You likely haven't heard of 'The Mighty Macs' -- one of the quietest 1000-screen releases of 2011 -- but the heartwarming true story and G-rating could be a draw for family audiences tired of 'Real Steel' and 'The Lion King 3D.' That's not to say this one will be a 'Courageous'-style hit: feel-good or not, movies need some advanced buzz to make a dent in this marketplace. 'Mighty Macs' has none.
