'Game Of Thrones' Blu-Ray Announced, Season Three Rumors Abound
Fans of Westeros and the world beyond the Narrow Sea, start getting excited for spring, because "Game of Thrones" season one is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on March 6. Entertainment Weekly has the whole scoop on the upcoming home video release of HBO's hit show, including the whole slew of special features that will be included. Our favorites are definitely "Creating the Dothraki Language" and "From the Book to the Screen," as well as the audio commentaries from David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, George R.R. Martin, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, and more. The DVD will cost $59.99, and Blu-Ray will clock in at $79.98. Sounds like a pre-order Christmas present is in demand. And now, prepare yourself, because the best rumor we've heard all day is after the jump. Martin, Benioff and Weiss, and basically anyone who cares about "Game of Thrones" and has read the books (read: us) have all been lamenting for a while now about the fact it will be an impossible task to bring the third book in the series, "A Storm of Swords," to the small screen with just a 10 episode order. Well, HBO might have found a really good solution for that. Winter Is Coming has heard from multiple sources that HBO might renew the series for two seasons shot back-to-back for "A Storm of Swords." The plan has already been to cover "ASoS" in more than one season, but this seems like a lot smarter of an option than having two separate shoots. The cast would be filming for nine months, but at least this will prevent the young children from aging too much when not that much time passes in the books. Unfortunately, this likely doesn't mean the seasons will be aired back-to-back, much to our chagrin. Still, considering the fact "ASoS" was released as two separate books in many parts of the world, it is a relief to hear that HBO is considering the idea of spreading the story out over two full seasons. Are you planning on getting the "Game of Thrones" Blu-Ray or DVD when it hits stores? Would you like "A Storm of Swords" to be split into two seasons? Lights, Camera, Accident! 20 Hollywood Stunts Gone Wrong
As most of us prepare to give thanks, some among us -- particularly young and up-and-coming film composers -- are saying please, as in, "Please Academy, give us a chance!"our editor recommendsFEINBERG FORECAST: 'The Artist,' 'The Descendants,' 'The Help' Atop Best Pic FieldTo Be An Oscars Winner, Dress Like One at the GlobesTHR Poll: Oscar Viewers Prefer Eddie Murphy Over Billy Crystal as Show Host Why? Because the Academy permits one individual to be nominated for more than one film in its best original score category -- unlike its acting categories, but like its directing and other technical categories -- and the Academy's music branch, which determines the category's nominees, has shown as much of a tendency as any branch to take advantage of that option. The result, over the last few decades, has been that veteran big-name composers have wound up with multiple nods on a fairly regular basis, while lesser-known emerging talent have struggled to get their moment in the sun. PHOTOS: Backstage at the 83rd Academy Awards This year could prove to be a tipping point for things, with a number of established veterans each in the running for multiple scores opposite a number of very worthy newcomers. John Williams, arguably the greatest living film composer -- he has scored an unbelievable 40 best original score nominations, nine of which have resulted in Oscars -- has both War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin in the running this year, and will almost surely be nominated for both. He alone has had two nods in one year on eight previous occasions that came in four different decades: 1969 (The Reivers and Goodbye, Mr. Chips), 1972 (Images and The Poseidon Adventure), 1977 (Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Star Wars), 1984 (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The River), 1987 (Empire of the Sun and The Witches of Eastwick), 1989 (Born on the Fourth of July and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), and 2001 (A.I.: Artifical Intelligence and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), and 2005 (Memoirs of a Geisha and Munich). Then, there's Alexandre Desplat, who has been nominated four times in the last five years (but has yet to win), who has churned out four major scores this year, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Ides of March, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and A Better Life; Howard Shore, who has been nominated and won twice in the past decade, who has both Hugo and A Dangerous Method; and Alberto Iglesias, who has been nominated twice in the past decade (but has yet to win), who has both Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Skin I Live In. PHOTOS: Oscar Show Moments After those four composers alone are accounted for, there may not be any space left in the category for anyone else! Nobody is saying that Williams or the others should do what Oprah Winfrey did in 2000 -- after racking up 39 Emmys, plus a lifetime achievement award, she withdrew her name from future consideration -- although it's worth noting that that is precisely what composer Hans Zimmer, an eight-time nominee who won for The Lion King (1994), did this year, even though he would have had at nods for four films, Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Kung Fu Panda 2, and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. But some young composers and publicists with whom I have spoken do feel that it would be fairer -- and make it likelier that newer and/or never-before-nominated talent like Ludovic Bource (The Artist), Cliff Martinez (Drive, Contagion, The Lincoln Lawyer), Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Brian Byrne (Albert Nobbs), David Wingo (Take Shelter), Jonsi (We Bought a Zoo), and Nathan Larson (Margin Call) would receive some attention -- if the Academy adopted the same rule for best original score and other technical categories that it applies to the acting branches. Ashlock is mentioned to own switched up at Radar's office with "an apparent thug" along with you in the mentioned try to consider physical getting the business. Police force were contacted, and before coming, Ashlock and also the connect "retreated." But Area states the violence ongoing through "late-evening phone calls and tacitly menacing emails." Area states he got the bankruptcyfiling overlooked carrying out a November 15th hearing, but that "incredibly, later that round-the-clock, accused...filed another personal personal bankruptcy petition allegedly regarding Radar Pictures." The next morning, the judge is mentioned to own overlooked the petition and precluded anymore proclaiming 180 days until possession issues around the organization may be resolved. Now, Area, represented by Jonathan Freund, is seeking an injunction preventing the accused from taking further action over Radar Pictures, including proclaiming personal personal bankruptcy. We attempted to make contact with co-defendantJohn J. Gazelin, the attorney who represented Radar inside the original personal personal bankruptcy filing.
